FNF NeneMixes

Nene has been part of the Pico universe since Tom Fulp's 1999 Flash original, spending most of FNF's history as the person watching from the side rather than the one holding the mic. FNF NeneMixes flips that completely. Eight remixed tracks, all built around her as the lead performer, put her up against opponents she has only ever watched other people fight: Daddy Dearest, Skid and Pump, Pico himself, Senpai, Mommy Mearest, and Darnell.

The mod took close to a year to complete and the time shows. Each track is a reworked version of a classic FNF song tuned to fit Nene's style and energy rather than just swapping the sprite and calling it done. The remixes sound distinct from the originals while keeping enough of the source structure that players who know the base game will still feel at home reading the charts.

How to Play FNF NeneMixes

1

Select a difficulty and pick your first song

Normal mode gives you a comfortable pace to learn Nene's chart style and enjoy the remixed music without the chart punishing every slip. Hard mode is worth attempting once you have the note patterns down, particularly on Guns and Darnell where the density picks up significantly toward the end. There is no locked progression so you can try any track in any order.

2

Match arrows at the judgment line and keep your combo alive

Computer / PC
Use or WASD to hit notes. Enter to confirm selections.
Mobile / Tablet
Tap the on-screen arrow buttons in time with the scrolling notes.
3

Focus the judgment line, not the character animations

Nene's battle animations are worth seeing but they will cost you notes if you watch them during play. Keep your attention at the top of the screen where notes arrive. Once you have cleared a track and know the pattern, replaying it while letting yourself take in the animations is much more satisfying than trying to do both at once on a first run.

Playing as Nene changes how familiar songs feel

The eight songs in FNF NeneMixes cover a wide range of the original game's mood: Bopeebo's upbeat opening, Spookeez's Halloween energy, Pico's competitive tension, the holiday warmth of Eggnog, the unsettling softness of Senpai, and the raw aggression of Guns and Darnell. All of them have been remixed to put Nene's character at the centre rather than treating her as a replacement model for Boyfriend.

That distinction matters in practice. The remixes have their own rhythmic character and chart placement decisions. Players who know the original songs well will recognise the structure but find the timing feels different enough that muscle memory from the base game is a starting point rather than a complete advantage. Treating each track as something new on the first pass gives you a better experience than assuming the old patterns still apply.

Nene's history and why this mod exists

Tom Fulp created Nene as part of the original Pico's School in 1999, a Flash animation and game that became one of Newgrounds' defining works. She and Darnell were Pico's classmates, each with their own weapons and personality in that original context. When Friday Night Funkin brought the Pico universe into its cast, Nene and Darnell came along as background and supporting characters.

The FNF modding community has explored most of the main cast extensively, but giving Nene a full playable lead role took until this mod. Nearly a year of development resulted in something that treats the premise seriously: eight complete remixed tracks, polished battle animations, and the full range of opponents from the base game all rebuilt around a character who earned the spotlight long before this mod gave it to her.

FAQs about FNF NeneMixes

FNF NeneMixes is a fan-made Friday Night Funkin mod where you play as Nene instead of Boyfriend. The mod includes eight remixed versions of classic FNF songs and puts Nene up against opponents including Daddy Dearest, Skid and Pump, Pico, Senpai, Mommy Mearest, and Darnell. It took nearly a year to develop.
Nene originated in a 1999 Flash game by Tom Fulp and became a recurring character in the Pico universe. In standard FNF she appears as a background character. NeneMixes gives her a lead role for the first time in the FNF format, with her own chart style and remixed soundtrack.
The eight tracks are Bopeebo, Spookeez, Pico, High, Eggnog, Senpai, Guns, and Darnell. Each is a remix of the original FNF song reworked to fit Nene's character rather than a straight re-skin of the existing charts.
The opponent roster includes Daddy Dearest, Skid and Pump, Pico, Mommy Mearest, Senpai, and Darnell. These are all characters from the base Friday Night Funkin game, giving the mod a familiar cast while the Nene perspective and remixed music keep everything feeling fresh.
Normal mode is accessible for casual players and gives a good experience of all eight songs without punishing timing gaps too harshly. Hard mode raises the note density and is aimed at experienced rhythm players. Guns and Darnell are the tracks where the difficulty spike is most noticeable on Hard.
Yes. The browser version on this page works on mobile and tablet with on-screen tap controls. Hard mode on tracks like Guns is demanding on touchscreen due to the faster note sequences, so Normal is the recommended starting point on mobile.
